Colorado Shower and Slide

Have you noticed that we love going to visit my family in Colorado? Of course this trip included a celebration
for...

Baby Buttons
My mom is on this fondant cake making kick and this was her creation for the shower...This round she found that lemon cake is too dense and doesn't stand up against all the weight of a 3 tiered, double-layer cake. Can you tell it's leaning?

We decided to photo each person with the gift they gave me so I could remember who gave me what, and I promised they were just for me to view...hence here's a snapshot of the shower stuff rather. Don't look to close:)

I got so into the gifts for baby buttons that I made some gifts of my own...
A cupcake flannel blanket for Daddy's sweetie.
Some simple flowers for her head:) I am soo happy with the hairbows I bought from JenniferTaylorDesigns that I couldn't stop at just those. Hers are WAAAY better though, mine are just simple ones and hers are definitely boutique worthy amazing!

The next day we went adventuring in San Isabel National Park to a natural waterslide that everyone was excited for...except I couldn't go of course. The hike was supposed to be just an easy walk by the creek to the rocks, but it ended up being pretty difficult for a 7month pregnant lady:) the elevation and walking wasn't bad, we just had big logs and rocks to go over and under and bending and moving around is a little difficult with my growing belly. I am so grateful I am in such good shape otherwise it wouldn't have been so good. Tyler on the other hand suffered worse than I since he had a bad sinus infection but didn't want to miss out on the fun.
Does it look like we're enjoying ourselves? So, we probably would've been enjoying ourselves like my siblings if we weren't sick/pregnant, but I'm sure glad my bros and sisters had such a great time. This is a sweet natural waterslide and definitely a fun activity for the summer!!!

So long Colorado...my last trip home until Thanksgiving...with baby in tow!!!

I'm sure you're all tired

Of seeing all my craft/baby projects...so I guess I'll wait until everything is in the room all decorated to post them. If you don't want to read baby stuff, scroll past the next section:

I did however need to include these little bobbie socks

Ok, well on to NOT BABY things!!! Here's where you start reading if you want to know about me and Tyler's life and not our baby buttons inside my tummy.

For starters, I don't know about you all, but I am definitely less social than I used to be--in fact, this week has been a rarity--I got to see my fellow SNAK-PAK friend Spat, who lives in Ohio :(
Since she came and visited her twin sis. We of course had to take a picture with my baby bump

There:) see it?? Anyway, I was looking at these pictures and decided I really HAVE to do something with my hair. I TOTALLY need a hair cut or something. I just look so blah...I wanted to go lighter brown and do like a golden color like so
But that involves totally bleaching out the black currently in my hair and then re-dying it. I don't know if I'm up for $100+ right before baby...So, anyone have any other ideas??? Maybe I'll just cut it and hope my bangs will grow out faster so I can do the side sweep thing...

I spend a lot of time on this blog writing about me and not nearly enough about Tyler. Probably because his life is WAAAY boring compared to mine....hahahhaaaa....Right. Probably because I forget to document all the cool stuff he does as I am wrapped up in my little pregnant mommy-to-be selfish life. Well, I documented something this time.

What is this you may ask? This is Ty's 2001 Oldsmobile Alero GLS Coupe. We are penny pinchers (in every sense) and have been driving this car for over a year without either the driver or passenger side windows working--I mean you know when you drive up to a drivethrough window and you roll down your window to pay and pick up your food...we had to OPEN the door instead of conveniently pushing the little up and down button. Well, to get them fixed at an auto dealers it is a buttload of mulah, so we of course (and I mean Tyler) took the door apart and diagnosed the problem: the window regulator worked but there were some plastic clips that no longer held the window onto the regulator (motor that makes it go up and down) and so when you pushed the button the motor would turn but the window just stayed there. Solution: apoxy the clip back onto the glass and replace the regulator with the missing clips from a junk yard find at $36.

Tyler called me today so proud and said, "guess what I'm doing?...I'm driving down the road with my window rolled down and enjoying the breeze." First time in a long time.
Isn't he fabulous??? did I mention that the driver's window must work to pass Utah's safety/emissions testing to be registered and ruby's (that's the name of Ty's car) expires in July??

Now all that's left is the passenger side window.....

New 27 weeks picture and more baby stuff

So after many complaints about not really being able to see my belly in the pictures, I took this picture with a dress that emphasizes my belly
I also finished this nursing cover while I was in Colorado but don't know if I put a picture up yet.
A word of advice...NEVER BUY ONE OF THESE. They are WAAAAAY overpriced for how easy and inexpensive they are to make. For me this cost:
Fabric 1yd $4.19
D-rings 4 for $2.00 (you only need 2)
Boning 2 yds for $2.50 (you only need 14")
total cost of supplies: $8.70

Now I have boning and D-rings to make another one. Do you know how much they charge to make just 1?? like between $25-$45. Isn't that outrageous!!!
***So, anyone who wants a nursing cover I will make one for you for just the cost of the supplies...that's about $10.00 people.***

ok, so  I finished another project for the baby...
I got this idea from PurlBaby.com. They are just fabric swatches inside embroidery hoops. For 6 hoops and fabric it cost about $12.00 and now I have an adorable wall decoration that matches the $9 curtains I got and the $20 duvet cover.

Coming soon...painting projects, another blanket, a pillow, and socks!

Home

As much as I love vacationing, there are a couple things that always draw me back to reality and home

My pillow

Ok well I actually can't think of any others right now because most of the things I don't look forward to

work
laundry
cooking

Our Rasmussen family vaca this year was STUPENDOUS!!! I had been dreaming and planning for this vacation ever since we decided the location: Moon Palace Cancun.

I know a whole week of fun in the sun can hardly be represented by mere photos and videos...but here are some great shots

Adios good weather and 100% humidity!!! My skin will miss you although I much prefer the dry weather:)
