design space

So I've been thinking of adding some "spice" to my kitchen above our cabinets. I was thinking of putting some pretty bowls like these:

And then I was thinking of something pretty like this:

All surrounded by these:

I know it's very "fall" ish, but my colors are burnt orange, natural brown and cream soo....

Birthday

Well I've made it to 23! This was the best birthday I think that I've had in a long time...no midterms and no school, no work, and all PLAY:) My family had been in town for conference the weekend before and we had a little cake party with a wonderful surprise from my mom:

A laminator and a di-cut flower

Then the next Sunday we had bbq chicken and ICE CREAM CAKE, my fave. Ty bought me a pair of boots, which he bought online and were just the kind I liked, but when I tried them on, they didn't fit!!! I gave him a huge hug and kiss for effort:) (don't worry, I sent those back and got some that fit beautifully)!

Then I did some birthday shopping...here are some of my goods:

tank top is purple

Sunglasses are in black

Plus, Ty's fam gave me a $50 gift certificate to Hobby Lobby!!! MY FAVE!

great italian chicken recipe

I love easy recipes that I don't have to very much work:) and that Ty and I can eat for one meal. Here's another great one for the crock pot

Cream Cheese Chicken
4 Chicken Breasts (I used 4 chicken thighs and it was AMAZING)
8 oz cream cheese (I just used 4oz since I used less meat)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 packet Italian Seasoning Packet (I just used half since I had less chicken)
1/3 c water

Combine the seasoning packet with water. Put chicken in the crockpot and pour seasoned water over the chicken. Combine cream cheese and chicken soup until thouroughly combined and pour over chicken. Let simmer on high in crockpot for 3-4 hours.

I served over rice with steamed garlic parmesan green beans. YUM.

I had a boutique

Last week I participated in a home boutique and was able to make some good sales, but I also have quite a few things made not sold!!! Here are some of the items
Aprons:

Burp Cloths:

Diaper Bag Diaper Cases and Wipes Cases

Fall Decorations

These are the only fall decorations I have....

It's a good thing too cause I think it's going to be a SHORT fall

Projects

So, when we got home this summer there was this ugly, tacky bubble gum pink bookshelf outside our house. It sat there for about a month and I decided I could either just take it to DI or re-purpose it for a good use. For $3.00 I spray painted it black and then decopaged orange fabric onto the back panels. I think it turned out great! Now I use it to store my fabric stash--but it's totally cute and will function as a bookshelf or anything else when I need it to:) (I had a picture of the "before" but it got erased when I updated my phone. SADDAY)

alphabet magnets

draper temple and visitors center

Wednesday I went with Kristin and her kids to ride the Utah Trax to temple square for a fun activity. It was so fun to see the kids enjoy the train. There isn't really that much to see as far as exciting sights from Sandy to Salt Lake except junk cars and trash...but they enjoyed trying to stand up when the train started moving and being thrown back into their seats. Also, they loved hanging onto the hand holds and dangling above the seats as the train sped along.

Tuesday night we went to the Draper temple:

a story for us young kids

I wanted to share a little bit of my past couple weeks on living with my grandparents in Sandy:) It has been wonderful spending time listening to their stories! Since I work at home, I am usually available when they decide to go to lunch. My grandma doesn't cook anymore; since the time I was little all I can remember is them going out for every meal. They pretty much usually just go to one place: Golden Corral.

Before anyone's preconceived notions regarding this buffet-style restaurant, let me clue you in to some of the benefits it offers:

1. multiplicity of seniors at every hour
2. bridge/rummy club MWF at 11am
3. great waitresses who recognize you by name and know you get a "diet" drink every meal
4. chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge...all you can eat.
5. grandma who comments about every fat person in the place and reminds me to exercise
6. grandpa who gives me work out tips

Today I knew it had reached an important point when my grandpa asked if we wanted to go to Chinese or Golden Corral and I was secretly hoping my grandma wanted the latter. Thankfully, she is a definite creature of habit and we went to Golden Corral. YAY!!
