The Nursery

I know you all can't wait for these pictures so without further ado...
here are some of the pictures I used for inspiration for the nursery

and here is my result:
I could do a cost by cost analysis to show you exactly how much I spent on every item...I just love the color pallet of pink and yellow and how it all turned out. Since I made almost everything, I was able to get an exact look and match on almost everything. There were a couple splurges however:
Duvet Cover and Shams: $30 (made using yellow flat sheets from Walmart)
Pink pillows on bed: $1 (made using gingham fabric from Walmart and some pillow forms I already had. the bows are extra pink ties I made for the basket liners from pink fabric from Walmart.
Total to make all 10 ties for baskets and pillows: $3 (fabric from walmart)
10 white Basket liners: $3 (made using a twin flat sheet from walmart. the other baskets and liners are in the bathroom and closet since you can only see 3 here)
10 black baskets: $10 from the dollar store (only used 3 in bedroom)
Boppy Pillow: gift
Curtains: $9 clearance from Walmart (tie backs are some scrap ribbon)
Baby quilt on pack and play: gift
Pack and play, dresser, and bed: on loan from in-laws while we live here:)
Glider and ottoman: $20 off KSL and $12 for fabric to recushion
Glider pillowcase: $4 (cost of fabric, sequins and embroidery thread)
Pillow for glider: $3 travel pillow from walmart
Embroidery Hoops and Fabric for art: $12 from Hobby Lobby
"E"s: $2.29 plus cost of spray paint I used on lamp also
Lamp base: free
Lamp shade and halo kit: $6.75
Changing Pad: gift from Babies R US
Changing Pad cover: gift from Target
Daisy hooks: free plus $0.25 for paper to decopage
Liberty of London picture frame: $2.50
Storage bins and stereo: used from college days

Let's see, that makes the grand total: $137.79 approximately!!!
phew. I am quite proud of my handiwork and would love any of your comments. I have spent many hours on this room because I wanted a look I could take with us to our own house when we move next summer.

Other news is that we took some maternity photos this week (36) and as soon as I get some I will post...thanks to my friend Patrea:)

Also, I'm on limited physical activity (aka at home bedrest) for the rest of my pregnancy--what do I do? I can only read and watch TV so much!

4th of July and the 12th and the 18th

JULY 4TH
The boys really got into lighting stuff on fire this year

Especially Brax!
Ashlyn, not so much
JULY 12TH
Dad Rasmussen's birthday...alas no pictures of the actual day, but Saturday the 17th we painted the garages as a birthday present
Before

After, Primed
Painted

Both garage and person if you can tell from Tim's happy smiling face.

Since the kids couldn't paint, we took them swimming!
Jace about to do a cannonball
Jace doing a cannonball
three happy swimmers
And I couldn't help but post these faces of Jace and Ashlyn

Or this picture of Ashlyn
 Or this one:)

After all the painting, my dear husband helped me put the finishing touches to this

I had finished sewing the cushions but needed some manpower stapling the new cushion to the ottoman. It was after 10pm and he had been painting all day and I know helping me finish this project was the last thing he wanted to do, but it was Saturday and I didnt want to wait all the way until Monday to cross this project off my list! Well, he was a champ and didnt say one word as he helped me staple the ottoman. Doesnt it look nice...$20 for the glider off KSL, $12 for the new fabric and voila!
This glider really needs a before though, so
Fresh off the block

After tearing off the old fabric, washing the foam cushions and recovering them with a muslin cover so the foam is better protected and...
The after shot of the whole thing again. That pillow also really needs a close up of its own, and possibly its own post because Ive spent hours doing handwork on it

You cant see in this picture that I embroidered the birds and branches and added sequins...heres another upclose shot
I really enjoy doing handwork and this pillow I think turned out soo cute!
So then I let Tyler go to bed

JULY 18TH
The sacrament meeting I was supposed to play the piano for our ward...instead I played the piano in front of over 300 people for a mission president's homecoming who served in the Texas Fort Worth mission. We get to the church about 10 minutes early so I can warm up before playing and the parking lot was already full. This NEVER happens even when both wards are at the building at the same time. I was in shock walking into the building. I asked our neighbor, who was walking in too, why there were so many people and she said it was this homecoming and they invited all their missionaries, which over the course of 3 years and in Utah is obviously a lot. If I would have thought about it I would have snapped a picture of the inside--there were people sitting on chairs in the foyer and all the way through the cultural hall, people filled the choir seats and were standing against the wall. I was soo NERVOUS! This is why I never play in front of people because i cant control my nerves.
Well everything turned out okay, thanks to some fervent prayers in my behalf and I am grateful that I practiced so much so the Lord had something to actually work with!

SNEAK PEEK

I wanted to include a closeup picture of the duvet cover I finished for the bed in the nursery, so here are the adorable buttons at the top. You can see that it is yellow and purple and pink to match with the other decor. I will wait to post a picture of the whole effect (those pillow cases behind are not part of the done look) when I get it all set up and stuff so I bet you cant wait!

Youve finally reached the end of the mega post! hope you enjoyed and stay tuned for some belly pics!

New 27 weeks picture and more baby stuff

So after many complaints about not really being able to see my belly in the pictures, I took this picture with a dress that emphasizes my belly
I also finished this nursing cover while I was in Colorado but don't know if I put a picture up yet.
A word of advice...NEVER BUY ONE OF THESE. They are WAAAAAY overpriced for how easy and inexpensive they are to make. For me this cost:
Fabric 1yd $4.19
D-rings 4 for $2.00 (you only need 2)
Boning 2 yds for $2.50 (you only need 14")
total cost of supplies: $8.70

Now I have boning and D-rings to make another one. Do you know how much they charge to make just 1?? like between $25-$45. Isn't that outrageous!!!
***So, anyone who wants a nursing cover I will make one for you for just the cost of the supplies...that's about $10.00 people.***

ok, so  I finished another project for the baby...
I got this idea from PurlBaby.com. They are just fabric swatches inside embroidery hoops. For 6 hoops and fabric it cost about $12.00 and now I have an adorable wall decoration that matches the $9 curtains I got and the $20 duvet cover.

Coming soon...painting projects, another blanket, a pillow, and socks!

As requested

A few of you have asked me to post pictures of the sewing projects I completed in this post, so here they are finally.
#1: the pants with the hole in the butt

I altered these from flares to straight leg

view from behind. you can't even tell there is was a hole!
#2 Chile/fat jeans I converted to skinny

sorry the picture quality isn't that great:)

The jacket was one I got from forever 21 and all i did was sew the hole closed. not really exciting:)

For some other projects I've been working on....

we went from this showerhead in our bathroom (imagine being sprayed by a hose 50ft away and that was what it felt like)
to this one:

sooo much better:) and it was worth the $14.00 at Lowes
I submitted this dress

to THIS contest. What do you think?

bytheway, countdown to Arizona trip is T-minus 8 days...
and I found this cuute little number

that will accompany me. it looks better on me of course!
