Sianara 2010 (Viewer Discretion advised, some kissing pictures)
Tyler's fam has some great Christmas traditions and this year we created a new one...going to the BYU basketball game.
As you can see, Eliza loved it!
Jackson Emery ringing the victory bell
We even got a picture of Eliza with Cosmo--such a perfect cheerleader! Go Cougs!
Last year's new tradition was to build,
"The Christmas Fort" As the following depict, this is a spacious lounge where we play Wii, watch movies and generally chill Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Some of the fam slept inside, but since we had little Eliza, we slept in our bed:)
Here I caught Brennan playing Wii
With his pants down
Brennan's Christmas tree (by the way, if you couldn't tell Brennan is the Christmas tradition enforcer)
Merry Christmas!!!!
And now, we fast forward to New Year's. One of our goals before we move is to rid ourselves of extra junk...even though I love shoes, I decided I could part with a few pairs. I went from this:
to this!
that's like 20 pairs I got rid of...go me:) Right now this is how I store them, since we share a very small closet...
Tyler has one shelf, I have two
Eliza did so well on our trip to Colorado. She is such a cutie pie, and looks so adorable when sleeping.
Or awake
Or in her carseat as we take pictures
Or on the plane
When Daddy's holding her
I tried to find an angle without a line of light across Ty's face, but the airplane sure wasn't cooperating.
Ok, well we love our little girl if you couldn't tell. And we had a blast this break. Here's to a Happy 2011!!!!

Black Friday
To shop or not to shop...that is the question.
Actually it's really not. The answer is always yes to shopping.
Of course since Tyler is technically unemployed and the whole living with the parents thing is going on right now, the whole shopping thing is scaled down.
Nevertheless, this was an AWESOME shopping day. I'm the kind of person who already has their Christmas shopping done by Thanksgiving...(yes I am completely done...wrapping them all up this week so they can sit under the tree all gorgeous all of december!)...so Black Friday for me isn't about scoring deals for stocking stuffers or whatnot. This year I only had one thing on my list: a wireless router and of course various things for my mom (like $6 sandwich makers! handy little suckers that are only sold around Christmas time) haha funny enough that was the one thing Tyler suggested we get since we will need one when we get out on our own. Not to mention that normal price is well over $50 normally. So the score at $29 was worth getting up at 7am. Yes, 7am. That is VERRRY early for me, Eliza and I like to snooze until 10 or 10:30:)
Speaking of which, my baby is 3 months on Tuesday! that's in 2 short days and you can bet I'll have some pics to put up. I don't think she has changed that much and I think she is slowing down a little in her weight gain. Probably because she's sleeping through the night...Wait, in case you missed that
She's Sleeping Through the Night!
from 10:30-6:30 and then I feed her and put her back by 6:45 and she sleeps until 10:15 usually. Wow, what a difference our life has been! I thought for sure since she was so little it would take longer, but at about 2 1/2 months her 6 hour stints turned into 7 or 8 and it was more consistent. I love it!
We spent Thanksgiving with my family in Colorado and had a blast. It was one of our best visits yet! Turkey day was great all grateful and stuff and we ate all those traditional dishes (something when I host thanksgiving I won't do btw) We took the traditional family photo, went to go see a movie (sold out though:() watched football and played games. We enjoyed the pleasantly surprising warm weather, relatively, and were quite sad to leave. Eliza did great on her first little airplane ride. I am so grateful she is such a great baby.
The week before we thought we were going to have to buy a new laptop for Tyler because it unexpectedly stopped working, something we really didn't want to have to cough up funds for right now, but what-do-ya-know, my resourceful hubby looked up possible solutions and bought a new part for only $12. Turns out all the screen needed was a new inverter. Awesome. Now our dinosaur will last another couple months, at least until we start getting an income again.
Ok, well that's another little snapshot of what life in the Rasmussen household has been like. Pics to come later this week of our little buttons!

JULY 12TH
Dad Rasmussen's birthday...alas no pictures of the actual day, but Saturday the 17th we painted the garages as a birthday present
Before
After, Primed
Painted
Both garage and person if you can tell from Tim's happy smiling face.
Since the kids couldn't paint, we took them swimming!
Jace about to do a cannonball
Jace doing a cannonball
three happy swimmers
And I couldn't help but post these faces of Jace and Ashlyn
Or this picture of Ashlyn
Or this one:)
Or this one:)
After all the painting, my dear husband helped me put the finishing touches to this
I had finished sewing the cushions but needed some manpower stapling the new cushion to the ottoman. It was after 10pm and he had been painting all day and I know helping me finish this project was the last thing he wanted to do, but it was Saturday and I didnt want to wait all the way until Monday to cross this project off my list! Well, he was a champ and didnt say one word as he helped me staple the ottoman. Doesnt it look nice...$20 for the glider off KSL, $12 for the new fabric and voila!
This glider really needs a before though, so
Fresh off the block
After tearing off the old fabric, washing the foam cushions and recovering them with a muslin cover so the foam is better protected and...
The after shot of the whole thing again. That pillow also really needs a close up of its own, and possibly its own post because Ive spent hours doing handwork on it
You cant see in this picture that I embroidered the birds and branches and added sequins...heres another upclose shot
I really enjoy doing handwork and this pillow I think turned out soo cute!
So then I let Tyler go to bed
JULY 18TH
The sacrament meeting I was supposed to play the piano for our ward...instead I played the piano in front of over 300 people for a mission president's homecoming who served in the Texas Fort Worth mission. We get to the church about 10 minutes early so I can warm up before playing and the parking lot was already full. This NEVER happens even when both wards are at the building at the same time. I was in shock walking into the building. I asked our neighbor, who was walking in too, why there were so many people and she said it was this homecoming and they invited all their missionaries, which over the course of 3 years and in Utah is obviously a lot. If I would have thought about it I would have snapped a picture of the inside--there were people sitting on chairs in the foyer and all the way through the cultural hall, people filled the choir seats and were standing against the wall. I was soo NERVOUS! This is why I never play in front of people because i cant control my nerves.
Well everything turned out okay, thanks to some fervent prayers in my behalf and I am grateful that I practiced so much so the Lord had something to actually work with!

SNEAK PEEK
I wanted to include a closeup picture of the duvet cover I finished for the bed in the nursery, so here are the adorable buttons at the top. You can see that it is yellow and purple and pink to match with the other decor. I will wait to post a picture of the whole effect (those pillow cases behind are not part of the done look) when I get it all set up and stuff so I bet you cant wait!
Youve finally reached the end of the mega post! hope you enjoyed and stay tuned for some belly pics!
